Most of the photos on this page are very old and did not scan well. I was very lucky to find these. I would like to thank the staff at the Sanger Branch Library and the Sanger Depot Museum for all the assistance they gave me when this page was being developed. Without their help this page would have not been possible.

The City of Sanger was founded in 1888. Since that time there has been some type of law enforcement in place to protect it's citizens. Below are a series of photos and events from Sanger's past.



This is an old Sanger Marshal's badge that is probably from the 1930s. This is an old Sanger Deputy Marshal's badge.

This is the Badge style that we wear today. This is an old Lieutenant's badge. This is an old Reserve Officer badge.

This is an old patrolman's badge. This is an Explorer badge. This is an old Reserve Officer badge.

This is an old hat badge. This is an old hat badge. This is an old Chief's hat badge that is probably from the late forties or early fifties.

This is the man that Sanger was named after.

This is a photograph of the old city building. In this building were housed business offices, Sanger Fire Department and the Sanger Police Department. This building was demolished in 1976 and it stood where the Jack in the Box Restaurant stands today.








This photo shows Sanger Police Officers as they looked in the late fifties. Is that Buddy Holly standing in the back row?











In 1909 this man,
George J. Overholt was the
Sheriff in the Sanger area.
His uniform looks much different
than those worn today.
Constable Warren Hill

Mr. Hill was one of the first
Constables in the Sanger area.
He pursued the bandits
Sontag and Evans.

Chief Ben Fogg This is a photo of Sanger's first Chief of Police Ben Fogg. Chief Fogg was also the town Marshal in the thirties and forties before there was a police department. Note the Marshal badge at the top of the page. Take a look at this 1961 newspaper article about Chief Fogg.

Chief Carl Armstrong Chief Carl Armstrong Was Sanger's second Chief of Police. He was Chief in the early fifties.

Chief Bustamante Chief Bustamante looks over some data on Sanger schools.

Chief McVay Chief Charles McVay was Sanger's Chief of Police in 1975.

Chief Keane Chief James Keane was Sanger's Chief of Police in 1978.

"Pete" Perfecto Medrano Is the first Sanger Police Officer to die in the line of duty. This is a news article of this unfortunate tragedy.
