Hello Members, Ambassadors,Volunteers and Friends,
If you did not attend our first 2018 Sanger Chamber of Commerce Street Faire and Farmers Market last Saturday you missed a most fun, exciting and thrill-filled evening!! Goodness sakes alive…we had The Sanger High School Marching Band kick off our program with some lively tunes and Paige Benavides sang a very beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. Oh, how could I forget to mention that good-lookin’ good soundin” John Pemberton? He always has a wonderful program that young and old alike can relate to.
A Dragon was wandering around the streets and a Belly Dancer that was very talented and a Fire Swallower that was amazing entertained the crowds throughout the evening! If all that wasn’t enough excitement our Sanger City Manager, Tim Chapa, was there to throw pumpkin pie in the face of Dick Shepard who is the editor of The Sanger Herald!! Whoa, Tim got three chances and came so very close to a Bull’s Eye but, alas, Dick managed to get only pumpkin pie filling splashed on his nose and cheek! Both Tim and Dick were good sports and maybe the roles will be reversed in the coming weeks!?
Our Farmers with their bountiful harvests made those who were looking for fresh fruits and veggis very happy and they will be on hand this coming Saturday so you can replenish your supply. We should all take advantage of this wonderful service our local farmers bring to us…good quality, good prices, good eatin’! Please help support our local farmers.
The food and merchandize vendors were amazing with food that made our mouths happy and treasures that made our dreams come true. We are making sure that these wonderful hardworking businesses will be back to take care of your dining and personal purchasing needs.
We even made sure our little cutie pies (sons, daughters, grandkids) had plenty to do. My grand-daughter, Olivia, was thrilled to ride the “neigh-neighs” (pony rides). Then she took me (aka Grammy) to the Tea Cups and spun me until I had to ask the operator to STOP!!! and needless to say I was one sick chick. I opted out of the promise I made to my son-in-law to ride the Hammer with him! Face painting, balloons made to look like animals, big ol’ Bounce House and Princess Moana and Princess Ariel and Captain America, oh, and a Clown!! I think more than just our little ones enjoyed all the super fun provided by great entertainers.
Please come on downtown this Saturday September 15 from 5PM to 9PM and let The Sanger Chamber of Commerce entertain you, feed you, delight your ears with great music. We also are featuring local artists in Sam Gutierrez Park that have beautiful original paintings, ceramics and photography for you to admire and purchase.
Only three more Saturdays for this yearly event. AND, the weather will be cooling down so you cannot use that as an excuse to stay away. You know the old saying, “be there or be square”!
Mark your calendar for Saturday September 15 which is Sanger Heroes Night and Starwars Invasion Night and be sure to stop by The Chamber Booth and say hi to me and whoever else is there!
Signing off until next week,
